Overview

In April 2025, the Access to Justice Internet Portal Committee submitted a report to the New Mexico Supreme Court. The report was intended to serve as a blueprint for the establishment and implementation of a new entity to build and operate an internet portal for access to justice in New Mexico.

The portal will be accessible online to every New Mexican to help users:

  1. Determine whether their problem is a legal one,
  2. Access information about that legal problem,
  3. Determine whether they are eligible for free legal services and, if so, make a referral to that service, and
  4. If they are not eligible for free legal services, refer them to court-based self-help or to the NM State Bar for referral to full or reduced-rate private legal representation. The result will be a “no wrong door” process by which every person seeking help will find whatever level of help is available to them.
